Keeping The Focus On Economic Benefits While Achieving Net-Zero Infrastructure Development

In these last few weeks before applications close, we’d like to reiterate the primary focus of the Net Zero City Project is to commoditize technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and work with them to integrate multiple avenues for profit and sustainability into the structure and development of a city.

Only thirty-five percent (35%) of companies have a carbon strategy, largely due to the complexity of implementing carbon intensive projects. There are so many different sectors who must collaborate to create this solution that one company cannot develop a complete net-zero strategy in the usual course of its business. Surface level issues have been addressed. For example, using sustainable resources, or tackling smaller development pieces so they are sustainably sourced is becoming common practice.

Most climate technologies are viable only if other climate technologies are also implemented at the level of facilities, enterprises, regions, and value chains. An economic model that sustains green technologies is therefore similarly reliant on the interdependence of organizations working together to build new value chains and industrial ecosystems.

This is a more cooperative approach than most business are accustomed to. By working together with stakeholders from every avenue of integration required to commercialize climate technologies, the Net-Zero City Project intends to create a blueprint that shows how various businesses can easily implement a carbon strategy.

The pathway to delivering a complete net-zero development project has not been created. We need to tackle what technologies need to be implemented at the planning and design stages and create a standard and consistent format for construction projects that developers can follow.  Once such a format has been created, businesses will be more likely to engage in carbon-reducing activities and can budget and plan for this transition effectively, creating the pipeline for transitional services that is required to move towards a net-zero future.

By design, we have developed this program to begin the development process by assessing resource needs, then technology assistance, job creation and availability, and lastly, infrastructure needs. There are immediate economic opportunities that can be created for North Americans in supply chain inputs, infrastructure, and support services as the world shifts away from fossil fuels towards a cleaner future.

We’re now a little over four (4) weeks out from the deadline to apply for the Net-Zero City Project. You can email us directly at info@netzerocityproject.com for all questions, or to the contact information on the application form.

We’ve begun preliminary assessment of various technologies that will be included as part of the Project and encourage early applications for anyone who would like their company’s technology to be considered in the original development plans of the Net-Zero City Development Plan.

Please indicate on your application form if you require capital to continue to develop your technology, as well as how much, what it will help you achieve and how it will help the Project. We are taking the Project to governments and financiers around the world and will take this into consideration.

We’re also beginning to reach out to policy makers to participate on the policy development committee and to dive deeper into selecting an appropriate site for the development of our first net-zero city. As we continue to speak to representatives the public-private partnerships that will be required to support the implementation of the project are beginning to take shape.

Further information on our investment strategy is available here.

Some critical information on the Design of the Project:

1.      All participants on the committees will be paid a nominal fee for their participation. This fee is not intended to replace your job, but to compensate you for the time you will spend on the committee and the expertise you will provide over the course of the Project.

2.      The anticipated start date of the Project is in October 2024, and we expect your participation to last up to 10 months with a few meetings every month coordinated with your fellow committee members.

3.      You will have an opportunity to review additional information on the Project close to the start date once you have been accepted.

Information on each committee and the technologies we are looking for can be found here.

Applying for the Net-Zero City Project

The purpose of the Net-Zero City Project is to design infrastructure that has a net-zero carbon footprint. We will be answering the following questions:

  • Which technologies are the most appropriate to use, and how can they be integrated to achieve emissions reductions while ensuring reliability, affordability, and generating industry-level competitiveness for each technology?

  • Further, how will these technologies work together across functions, and how much land, power, and resources will be required to develop and run the city?

The objectives of the Net-Zero City Project:

  • Discovering and utilizing the newest possible clean technology available in the world today.

  • To design from scratch, infrastructure that integrates technologies to deliver net-zero emissions.

  • Develop multiple avenues for profit and sustainability into the structure and development of the city.

  • Create a comprehensive technology integration blueprint for our partners and collaborators to use in their development projects ongoingly.

Committee members will be selected from the applicants who submit their applications by the April 25, 2024 deadline, and who meet the minimum criteria below:

  1. Qualified to participate.

  2. Can afford to participate (aka, their company has enough money to put into both participating on the committee and/or panel, and to implement any technology that they are recommending be used as part of the project).

  3. The applicant’s company is at minimum partially financed, or they have received grant funding to move their projects along.

Further information is available in the application package or on our website at www.netzerocityproject.com/apply.

If you and/or your company fit within these categories, or you have vendor partners who are likely to fit, please download the application form and submit your application as soon as possible. You can download the application form by clicking here.

We are excited to partner with and invest in the technologies that will be selected by the Net-Zero City Project committees. The results of these collaborations will form the benchmark for North American sustainability strategies and design.
